Blinking Away Bad Eagle

After the huge mandate that Obama has inherited, we will hopefully see a great move away from Yeagley's neocon agenda and a great distance put between America and the corrupt Bush Doctrine that Yeagley has blindly supported for the past 8 years.

America may stay with “the people” after all, after all the failed Reaganesque (Friedmanesque) tinkle-on-you economics, and with its incessant backward pontifications to legislate right-wing morality toward a theocracy instead of holding true our founding democracy (and the freedom from religion, and the separation of church and state). Yes We Can, with a colossal landslide victory!!

So, instead of seeing that the country has voted its will in this election, Yeagley instead sees ignorance and weakness. Again, instead of seeing strength in the democratic method, Yeagley whines away with ‘weakness’ mantras.

Like he did at the Indigenous protest against the Columbus Day parade (in CO), Yeagley is again calling everyone who disagrees with him a “commie.” Without anything to offer Americans, without anything to offer American Indians, Yeagley is left whining and criticizing, but has no democratic solutions to offer in his wake. Our advice: avoid his wake and be Awake.

YEAGLEY — “most people are weak, and they like feeling they've been wronged... ‘I've been wronged!’ ...is the Communist message to each individual. ‘I deserve more! You've oppressed me!’ This appeals to the imagination, the ego, the spirit of rebellion, self-justification, and even aspiration. But, in ignorance, the people know not what Communism really is, how it really works, and what its results actually are” (Nov 2008).

YEAGLEY — “When the warrior was finally defeated, he became the reservation Indian” [leaning forehead toward camera for added emphasis]. “Th, the loser. The alcoholic. The depressed, keep-away-from-me, leave-me-alone” [swipes hand in air for added emphasis]. (2008)
America was founded on the attributes Yeagley is denigrating — imagination, ego, rebellion, self-justfication, aspiration — these are the stuff of American independence. We the people imagined ourselves independent. From our European roots, we were tired of being treated as underlings, peasants in a caste system; we had a healthy ego. From our American Indian and Black roots, we maintain our sense of rebellion; after all, America was founded on the American holocaust, but we have endured. The intersection of all our American roots has inspired us in our own self-determination.

We are patriots. We are Americans. We are not white thrones — We are patriotic and democratic Americans, and we care about the common good.

But in Yeagley’s eyes, we are all “commies.” And "stupid."

Yeah sure, as we say in Minnesota. The truth is revealed plainly for all: Yeagley is a nationalist, not a patriot. There is a difference. As a Nationalist, Yeagley cares not for the common good, but naively champions America “right or wrong” without thought of the common good, and without thought toward justice.

With his nationalist spectacles, Yeagley sees only the flag-draped, bible-thumping strains of American life, forgetting and dismissing the greater America that is Patriotic, Democratic and cosmopolitan. No, Yeagley’s ‘nationalism’ is not the same thing as being Patriotic.

So if you perhaps discern sour notes wafting from the piano doctor’s sanctuary in his mother’s old bedroom-turned-blogger-hideaway, be very clear in recognizing the difference between narrow nationalism and proper patriotism. Nationalism is narrow, unthinking discrimination, while Patriotism is inclusive and rational — of the people — all of the people. Yeagley’s divisiveness is an uncaring, mean-spirited, heartless push toward dogmatic theocracy by gravely mistaking paranoid nationalism for true patriotism.

Yeagley is so busy pontificating, it seems that he cannot hear properly. In a recent radio diatribe Yeagley had to admit to the radio host that he had not listened to the speeches of both Obama and McCain, unaware of either positions, garnering a chuckle from the host. So we can quickly see what the Yeagley anschauung is based on. Imaged reality, and reactive hyperbole.

America is a democracy, not a theocracy. Americans are not Yeagley jingoists, we are patriots with a more panoramic view of the concept. Patriotism includes everyone. All are welcome, from the middle east to Mexico and back again, everyone is welcome here.

America is pluralistic, cosmopolitan, multiracial, and imperfect. America is a work-in-process that started on American Indian genocide and is slowly moving toward justice and equality (we hope). Patriotism sees the process and the imperfection for what it is, a growth process, and shuns Yeagley’s selective reasoning of blind and rather dogmatic white nationalism.

American Patriotism: yes we can. Yeagley Nationalism: you ignorant commies. Better to blink away Yeagley’s irrationality and read this piece of intelligence instead:

The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism

(from Amazon): ... the modern American government is dominated by an "ideology of national security" that perverts the Constitution and common sense. It is based on presumptions about the universal appeal of democracy and America's role as democracy's great defender and promoter that just aren't true. A New Direction

Do I hear the sounds of kicking and whining over at Yeagley’s blog? I think I do! As a devout white supremacist, the piano doctor has his proverbial hands full with both a highly-probable black presidential win and the crumbling of the crony capitalist system he has been supporting with his neocon agenda. But while Yeagley whines on about “socialism” and “blackness” ruining America, the real American patriots are starting to move the country in a new direction — a better direction — toward the Common Good. And, although Yeagley continues his “poor me” mentality, commentators over at his blog have had enough of his whining too:

OCTOBER 30 — “No responses no one cares your opinion Yeagley. Most importantly Indian people do not care. I may be one of 3 who view this site and it's only to monitor you. Also you should stop attempting to align yourself with Indian thought. It's embarrassing to read, even for me. Everyone who's Indian knows you are not even near the mainstream of Indian thought, much less your questionable Indian credentials... You are clearly out of your league and over your head every time you comment on Native issues.”

YEAGLEY — "Now, as one who recently supported the Comanche Nation's preservation of Medicine Bluff, I am certainly sensitive to the plight of Indians who are trying to preserve what little we have left. However, there has to be some common sense here. We simply cannot claim back every inch of American soil--even though we undoubtedly have the bones of our ancestors in every inch."

OCTOBER 31 — “Your attempt to now present yourself as some kind of staunch advocate regarding Indians and sacred sites is pretty damn disengenous. Oh, those Comanche Bluffs were worthy of protection but Mt. Graham is suspect? Do you see how absurd your statement is here? You're a johnny-come lately to most things that directly involve Indian peoples. Because you attended the a few days court hearings regarding the Comanches, that makes you some sort of unbiased, purely objective commentator on the many other, just as important sites under attack? Note that I am not diminishing the Comanche Nation's victory here either, just your own chauvanism.”

The ABCs of Native American Heritage Month

This month, as the nation observes Native American Heritage Month, Teaching Tolerance offers a wealth of activity ideas tied to Thanksgiving, Native mascots and indigenous people's proud heritage of resistance.

In 1990, President George H.W. Bush designated November as "National American Indian Heritage Month," designed as a celebration of the history, art and traditions of the American Indian and Alaska Native peoples.

In many ways, November is an odd time to observe Native American Heritage Month. It's the month that the nation also observes the federal Thanksgiving holiday, which to some Native Americans is no cause for celebration, but rather a Day of Mourning.

November also marks the countdown to football bowl season, when people gather around televisions to root for the "Seminoles," the "Redmen," the "Savages" and the "Fighting Sioux."

In this edition of the ABCs, Teaching Tolerance provides resources and activities to help debunk the mythology of Thanksgiving and expose the racism inherent in Native mascots.

At the same, we encourage educators to go beyond these issues during and after Native American Heritage Month to examine Native people's struggles to hold onto heritage and secure justice. Tafeni English, Camille Jackson, Carrie Kilman and Rhonda Thomason contributed to this edition of the ABCs.

9:00-12:00 — Steven Judd: Screenplay Writing for Television and the Independent Movie

This workshop provides an overview of the screenplay and script. Judd will acquaint you to the screenplay format, writing rules, and etiquette needed to write a professional screenplay. Participants will learn and understand the industry standards. Judd will also discuss the 2008 ABC/Disney Writers Fellowship and how to apply. The workshop will provide tips on a successful application process.

The series co-creators are (Even Stevens) and Tom Burkhard. The last short he wrote and co-directed with Tvli Jacob, MAC V PC with a Native Twist, and was a 2007 semi-finalist of NBC/Universal’s Comedy Short Cuts, and a part of the 2008 Comedy Caravan that screened daily at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. He is a fellow for the 18th Annual Writing Fellowship program sponsored by the Disney-ABC Television Group and Walt Disney Studios, in partnership with the Writers Guild of America. He is a member of the WGA’s American Indian Writers committee, which is dedicated to finding the next generation of Native American writers. He was nominated as a 2008 Distinguished Alumni for the University of Oklahoma.

Norhagen Productions, Directed by Marthe Thorshaug, who lives and works in Hamar, Norway. She graduated from the Art Academy in Oslo in 2003. Her first solo exhibition in Norway was Comancheria at Fotogalleriet in Oslo spring 2007. She is currently working on the manuscript for a film project entitled The Legend of Ygg, a Norse Thriller.

RACCOON & CRAWFISH — Based on an Oneida story animation of how hungry a raccoon can get and is sure to win the audience. This story was the featured animation at the Cannes Film Festival, in France. It also won the Audience Choice award at the Moondance Film Festival.
Brent Michael Davids produced the original music score. Composer Brent Michael Davids is an enrolled citizen of the Mohican Nation. Davids’ career spans 30 years, including awards from ASCAP, NEA, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Davids holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Composition from Northern Illinois University and Arizona State University respectively, trained at Redford’s Sundance Institute, and apprenticed with film composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare In Love) on the TV-Miniseries Dreamkeeper (Hallmark and ABC). Davids has been featured on ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR, PBS and NAPT. The National Endowment for the Arts named Davids among the nation’s 29 “most celebrated” choral composers in 2006, in its project “American Masterpieces: three Centuries of Artistic Genius” in all 50 states.
RIDING WITH MY UNCLE — A lighthearted nostalgic ride with the filmmaker’s Uncle as he shares stories of his work life on the police force. (mild profanity)
Weyodi Grandbergs is a published and award-winning Comanche poet, screenwriter, and filmmaker who has lived most of her life in Lawton, Oklahoma. Like many people, she grew up without a father, but throughout most of her childhood, had close contact to her mother’s older brother who lived next door.
FRY BREAD BABES — Six American Indian women use candor and humor to discuss body image and identity and how the lack of American Indian women in mass media impacted each of them. This documentary features Elaine Miles, (Cayuse- Nez Perce) best known for her role as Marlyn Whirlwind on the television series “Northern Exposure” as one of the six interviewees. CNC Film Festival Co-founders Arkeketa and Pahdopony are included.
Steffany Suttle is an enrolled member of the Lummi Nation of Washington State. She was born and raised in Texas. She received her B.A. from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. Steffany completed the Native Voices Documentary Filmmaking Program at the University of Washington – Seattle, and earned a Master’s of Communication (M.C.).
THE GUARDIAN — An American Indian man decides, on his 100th birthday, to meet the Guardian that stands on top of the Oklahoma State Capital.
Tvli Jacob is a Choctaw Indian from Oklahoma. He worked on several documentaries, movies and television shows, and published in magazines and other collections of creative writing. As a child, he continued to tell stories even when teachers advised him to stop. Currently, he's a freelance videographer, editor, director, writer and producer.

ANTICIPATION OF LAND IN 2089 — Tribes participate in a land-run, where they define rules by which to live on acquired lands. A young Comanche woman (Jan-Marie Sapcut) fills out her paperwork with a government agent (Seth Joseph) who is also an ex-boyfriend. It is creates a conflict when her rules and relationship.
Sunrise Tippeconnie is a film director and writer of Numunuu and Dine decent. He has an MFA from Temple University’s Film and Media Arts program in Philadelphia and was a Co-Director of the Nextframe Film Festival. Sunrise has taught at the Temple University Film Program and recently offered Filmmaking I & II at the University of Oklahoma. He freelances in film and television and worked for Lucasfilm, Ltd., Bunim/Murray on the The Real World: Philadelphia. Tippeconnie worked as Director of Photography for Concrete Pictures HD channel Moov and as gaffer on the Yen Tan feature Ciao. He was nominated for a 2007 Re:New Media Fellowship, and selected artist for the Untitled [art space] show”Looking Indian” and for the OklaDaDa Oklahoma centennial art show “Current Realities.” Other film productions include Contest which have shown at the deadCenter Film Festival, the Heard Museum and ImagineNATIVE, and the National Museum of the American Indian. A Comanche Saw Swindle was shown at the Untitled[artspace]. Sunrise currently lives in Oklahoma City and developing feature films and a television pilot.
A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF BRILLIANCE — An American Indian reporter struggles with guilt when given damaging evidence that could ruin his best friend’s political career.
Roderick Pocowatchit is Comanche, Pawnee, and Shawnee. He lives in Wichita, KS. As director, screenwriter, producer and editor, he made seven short films and two independent digital features. Dancing on the Moon and Sleepdancer. He has won several awards, including recognition from the American Indian Film Festival in San Francisco, the Los Angeles American Indian Film & TV Awards, and support and training from the Sundance Institute. Rod appear s as an actor in the upcoming feature film The Only Good Indian starring Wes Studi and directed by Kevin Willmott (the Sundance favorite “C.S.A: The Confederate States of America”). Rod is currently in pre-production on his next feature script, The Dead Can’t Dance. He serves on the advisory board for NativeVue, a national organization that supports and promotes Native Americans in the media.
LADONNA HARRIS: INDIAN 101 — A trailer of the upcoming documentary film about Comanche activist, LaDonna Harris. Held in the highest regard by her colleagues for her numerous historic achievements, LaDonna is now passing her knowledge to a new generation of emerging Indigenous leaders by instilling the importance of traditional tribal values.
Julianna Brannum is a Comanche documentary filmmaker. She lives in Los Angeles and her film credits include the PBS film, “The Creek Runs Red” which was in last year’s CNC Film Festival. She is also working with the upcoming PBS Series, “We Shall Remain” – a 5-part historical series on American Indian history.
MEKKO PERSPECTIVE — Included in the OklaDaDa Oklahoma centennial art show “Current Realities” exhibit held at the IAO Gallery in Oklahoma City. A documentary of tribal leaders featuring Martha Berryhill, Lt. Governor Jefferson Keel, and Principal Chief of the Cherokees, Chad Smith and their responses to the Oklahoma Centennial.
Annette Arkeketa (Otoe-Missouria and Muscogee Creek) is a graduate from Texas A & M University at Corpus Christi, Texas and holds a Master of Arts. She is the Founder and President of Hokte Productions; a published poet, playwright and a speaker on issues concerning American Indian rights and issues. Hokte productions was formed to promote and document American Indian leaders, educators, activists, artists, and issues. She teaches at CNC.
THE FLYING HEAD — Stories told to the youth to encourage them to come home before dark.
Shelly Niro is a member of he Six Nations Reserve, Mohawk, Turtle Clan, she graduated from the Ontario College of Art with hours in visual arts. In 2001 she became the Eiteljorg recipient at the Museum of Western and Indian Arts, Indiana, Indianapolis. She participated in the Women in The Director’s Chair Program at the Banff Centre for the Arts, 2003. In the fall of 2006, Shelley was selected as a fellow in Women in Film and GM Accelerator Grants. In March, Nero exhibited the photographic exhibition Contemporary Voices’ with Jeffrey Thomas at Canada House, Trafalgar, Square, and London, England. Recently Niro prepared a sole exhibition at Oboro, Montreal titled “Almost Fallen” for April 2007. Niro’s short film “Tree” was selected for screening at the Images Festival in Toronto. In the summer of 2007, Niro collaborated with performance artist Lori Blondeau, artist/curator Ryan Rice and academic/curator Nancy Marie Mithlo at the Venice Biennial’s “The Requickening Project.”
SINEW — A powerful and courageous award winning documentary film of Betty Cooper, a Blackfeet activist and Tribal Council Woman’s life story as documented by her daughter, and film producer Patty Collins.
Patty Collins is a graduate of the Native American Studies Program from UC Berkeley. She has spent her life as a traditional healer helping families heal from historical and personal traumas.


LOST IN OKLAHOMA: CHAPTER ONE — The first segment of a 1-hour program currently in production. Chapter One was originally produced for Current Realities: a dialogue with The People, presented by OklaDADA. That exhibit was conceived as a forum for Oklahoma’s Indian artists, writers and filmmakers to ensure that Native perspectives would be clearly heard during Oklahoma’s Centennial year.

FOUR SHEETS TO THE WIND — After his father's untimely suicide, Cufe leaves his home on an American Indian reservation to search for a more fulfilling life.
Director Sterlin Harjo (Seminole/Creek) was selected in 2006 as one of the inaugural recipients (and the first Native American recipient) of the prestigious United States Artists Fellowship, which is supported by a consortium of major foundations. He was selected for a 2006 Media Arts Fellowship from Renew Media (now a fellowship program of the Tribeca Film Institute). Also in 2006, Harjo won the top Creative Promise Award from Tribeca All Access for his script Before the Beast Returns (working title). Harjo's first feature film Four Sheets to the Wind premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and was widely screened nationally and internationally at film festivals and art cinemas. Harjo was selected in 2004 as one of the Sundance Institute's first five Annenberg Film Fellows, a multi-year program launched to provide filmmakers with financial support and full involvement in Sundance's professional workshops. Harjo's short film Goodnight, Irene, which premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, was cited for Special Jury Recognition at the Aspen Shortsfest. In 2008, he served as a member of the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute film and video faculty. Harjo grew up in Holdenville, Oklahoma, and lives in Tulsa.

Obama Presidency will limit Yeagley’s influence

When the celebrated patriot and reformer Barack Obama is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America, a change in the racial perception of children will occur, according to new research. Apparently, children easily recognize the white male bias of the US Presidency and that perception will be directly challenged when Obama takes the Oval Office.

I am sure that David Yeagley will lament ad nauseam about how the country is becoming immoral and degenerate, or some other pile of negative attributes that have no basis in reality, like the so-called offense of blasphemy. Obviously, to any rationale thinker, “blasphemy” is truly a victimless crime (would-be “crime”). But setting aside Yeagley’s usual biblical hyperbole, his white supremacist rants can be easily seen.

YEAGLEY — “this matter pushes the envelope, really, about the whole idea of whether the Negro race is something other races enjoy looking at... In fact, it's so sensitive that the laws of America tend to require a non-Negro person to dutifully respect and value the Negro... The law thus makes a world of hypocrites, in a way, in the name of equality” (2005).
First, there are no laws that dictate one must “dutifully respect” nor “value” the “Negro” as Yeagley distorts. There are, of course, many civil rights laws designed to guarantee equal rights for all people regardless of color.

But see how Yeagley has twisted this measure of good-natured, altruistic citizenship of equal rights for all into a rather whiny lament about his having to obey civil rights law.

Really, folks are nice to others because of an evolutionary characteristic of altruism born into us through natural selection. In other words, most people don't like to "hate" anyone in America, though the ones that do shout more obnoxiously.

Secondly, Yeagley frets about his own hypocrisy regarding civil rights, and thereafter “projects” onto other citizens his own apprehension as if all citizens would somehow agree with Yeagley’s supremacist views.

Of course, mostly-white Yeagley (German by lineage) is part of the smaller and crassly vocal minority that still thirsts for the old plantation America.

Well, a new study brings happy news for the rest of us!

According to the research, the denigration of nonwhites will take a hit when Obama becomes America’s highest leader, and consequently we can expect Yeagley’s voice of white supremacy to become smaller too. Read the article:
Children aware of voter prejudice in US

AFP — “Children are aware white males have monopolized the US presidency, and most attribute the trend to racial prejudice, according to a study published Sunday.

Calling into question the idea children live in a color- and gender-blind world, researchers at the University of Texas, Austin, reveal ‘most elementary-school-aged children are aware there has been no female, African-American, or Hispanic President.’

In addition, ‘many of the children attribute the lack of representation to discrimination,’ said Rebecca Bigler, professor of psychology at the University of Kansas, and lead author of the study, published in the journal Analyses of Social Issues and Public Policy.

The research team interviewed 205 children aged five to ten in 2006, a year before Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama began their historic bids for the White House. Clinton lost to Obama in the primary fight for the Democratic nomination.

The study asked the children, from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, about their knowledge, attitudes and beliefs about the US presidency, and specifically about similarities between presidents and the absence of female, African-American and Hispanic presidents.

A third of the children said the white male monopoly was due to ‘racial and gender bias,’ and another third believed members of the excluded groups ‘lacked the skills to hold the position,’ according to the study.

One in four participants told researchers they thought it was ‘illegal for women and minorities to hold the office of president.’

The study found children were generally optimistic about the possibility that they could be president.

Girls who attributed the lack of female presidents to discrimination, however, were more likely to believe they could not become president.

‘The US presidency is a high profile case of racial and gender exclusion,’ Bigler said in a statement.

‘And because this topic is not typically explained to children, they appear to create their own explanations for the exclusion,’ she said.

The 2008 presidential election between Republican candidate John Mcain and Obama, who is black, has the potential to significantly alter children's view, said Bigler.

‘If Obama loses his bid for the presidency, there may be little change in children's attitudes, but it could fuel their perception that American voters are racially prejudiced,’ she said.

‘In contrast, if Obama wins children may believe that exclusionary laws and racial prejudice no longer shape the outcomes of the presidential elections.’ (October 5, 2008)

Fad Eagle Award for American Patriotism: David Yeagley

The first Fad Eagle Award for American Patriotism is presented to David Anthony Yeagley, for an irritable book, Pantings of a Comatose Preservative, a study in how to pickle your own white power simulacrum in a vanity publication when no one else really cares.

Speaking of white power and the continuance of racism in this country, it looks as though racial hatred against American Indians is still a culpable attribute of the patriotic and family values loving United States of America.

The Arizona Republic — A Native American man was shot in the leg and two others were injured Sunday after several White males and females wearing ‘white pride’ T-shirts attacked two of the men. A police bias crimes unit was investigating the case. The two men, Native Americans ages 48 and 24, were walking home from a store near 48th Avenue and Thunderbird Road when they were confronted and assaulted by several White men and women about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Phoenix police said.
Of course, our award winner has pontificated that he knows racism is no longer around in today’s white America. So, we can easily see he is way out-of-touch with the reality on the ground. But in his defense, we know it’s hard to get a true sense of the world from an internet connection in your mother’s old bedroom.
YEAGLEY — “I'm beginning to think there's no such thing as racism. If there is, it is very rare” (2005).

YEAGLEY — “Please, leave blacks out of the conversation... no reason to keep referring to them. See how they've infected our minds? How they dominate any view of any subject? This is disgusting… I'm actually serious about this business of blacks having to be the center of attention... I hate this. It is repulsive to me... it is wrong and immoral” (2007).
So while the white pontificator continues to deny his affection for all things Ann Coulter and white power, we easily see through his eager panting and rhetorical contortionist routines. It’s really because Yeagley lives in a never-ending world of relativism where he simply continues to have an intellectual go at things without any real progress.

Yeagley thrives in a world of He-Said/She-Said talking heads, and relies on the ancient Bible to provide his contemporary view of an unchanging life. For Yeagley, the world is only 10,000 years old, never changes nor evolves, and the only certainty is provided by a collection of conflicting myths compiled into a synergistic catalog (just flip though the bible to find the best buys at any particular moment).

Truthfully though, the relativistic world of polar opposites arguing to distraction, only hides the reality that the truth does not rest in-between. When one opposite declares evolution a hoax, and another states with credible certainty that evolution by natural selection is actually a fact — the truth is not somewhere in the middle of those ideas.

Evolution is truly a fact, while Intelligent Design (or whatever the latest flavor for “creationism” happens to be at the moment) is a failed attempt at fabricating a Christian theocracy in America. So the truth obviously does not rest in the center.

It is lame and sad but true that Yeagley survives only because he lives himself in a self-created world of relativism, where the truth often gets shoved off the radar in favor of polar arguments, rendering invisible what is really going on. Yeagley thrives on this distraction and propagates it to his own delight.

David Yeagley seems a deep-rooted propagandist whose own roots lie in not religion but in relativism.

Yeagley Abysmal Ignorance of Reason

We recently came across this little nugget of pseudo-reasoning by David Yeagley, that we thought should be unpacked for our devout readers. It once again demonstrates the apparent lack of thoughtful commentary by the piano doctor. Instead of following from evidence in support of an idea, Yeagley seems to be skipping the evidence and running straight to a predetermined conclusion. Not very scientific I must say. Also, not very reasoned. First, here is the entire gist of Yeagley’s argument condensed into its major components:

YEAGLEY — “Liberalism is a social form of sublimated male homosexuality... The birth process is a terrifying separation from unity. Remaining psychological life is a prolonged attempt to recover that lost, original unity... Obviously, liberalism is always about destroying one’s society, one’s country, even one’s race. This is all Freudian.. it is clearly homosexual in nature... Religion, politics, sociology, these are the realms of today’s giant, popular affectations of male homosexuality... Liberalism cannot escape its place in the history of behavioral science. It is sublimated male homosexuality” (August 2008).
So let’s look at these bit by bit, and consider each in turn. First:
YEAGLEY — “Liberalism is a social form of sublimated male homosexuality.”
Homosexuality is a product not of social learning but of genetics, and of natural selection. Many creatures living today are self-replicating without male-female interaction, and some contain both male and female components necessary to replicate. So first off, homosexuality is not a social form at all, it is a genetic factor at the level of a loosely defined group of individuals (not at the species nor race level).

So the question becomes, is this group predisposed by homosexuality in some way toward liberalism? Clearly, the answer must be no. Why? Without even considering the rather slippery definition of what exactly “liberalism” may or may not mean (and what Yeagley himself thinks it is), it is entirely possible to disprove Yeagley’s mistaken assumption without any definition at all.

One has only to look at folks who consider themselves to be non-liberals and look for homosexual evidence. If we see homosexual evidence in radical neocons — such as Ted Haggard, Larry Craig, Dennis Hastert, or Bob Allen for example — there must be a negative correlation with homosexuality as an exclusive factor for liberalism.

And if liberalism is perhaps but “one” (among several) outcomes of homosexuality, where potentially, non-liberalism or even conservatism might be yet another outcome of it, one would need to further prove how homosexuality and liberalism actually connect (which Yeagley can’t). Simply ‘declaring it so’ in a blog, is not proof of anything. There is no proof; homosexuality is a product of natural selection. So Yeagley is simply wrong on this point.

In the comments (below), Rob provides another obvious insight as to why Yeagley's speculation is completely bonkers:

Yes, Yeagley obviously cannot, has not and will not address these issues. He has first off already decided his agenda, and is thereafter looking for whatever ways he can intellectually muster to support his narrow assumptions. This is not scientific reasoning, it is cherry-picking for propaganda purposes only.
YEAGLEY — “The birth process is a terrifying separation from unity. Remaining psychological life is a prolonged attempt to recover that lost, original unity.”
For this little gem, we see faulty causal significance at work in Yeagley’s pseudo-reasoning. “Faulty causal significance” is a mistake (or a purposeful literary trick in the case of propaganda) of an assumed factor which has been falsely reduced into a singular and particular cause of something observed. In truth, Yeagley has championed a particular cause for his declared result, but there may be many other, and potentially greater, causes not properly studied and rather omitted from Yeagley’s consideration.

From Yeagley’s above assertion, we might assume that everyone goes through their entire life suffering from separation anxiety directly from losing their mothers in what might otherwise be considered as human ‘maturation.’ People mature in different ways and at different rates. We need not be scientists to see the truth of this fact. Why pin all of human suffering on the birth process, when there is so much other evidence for suffering and loss everywhere in abundance?

No, Yeagley has missed many other events in human maturation that inform our growth. Just to name a few, how about losing our “baby teeth” and what that entails. What about learning to “share” for the first time for those born as an only child? What about learning that flames can hurt you? What about learning that electric wall outlets are no place in which to insert a table knife? What about learning about the permanency of death when a pet or a relative dies? If one is looking for evidence of loss and suffering, there is a ready abundance that has precious little to do with Oedipus complexes, for sure.

No, Yeagley’s assertion has made a proverbial mountain out of a molehill, and failed to account for all the other ways in which loss might inform growth. Further, Yeagley again fails to delineate any link at all between loss and homosexuality, nor between loss and liberalism. He has provided no support at all for his main thesis above, and scientifically it is much easier to see that he is, in fact, mistaken in what he IS asserting.
YEAGLEY — “Obviously, liberalism is always about destroying one’s society, one’s country, even one’s race. This is all Freudian.. it is clearly homosexual in nature.”
The very definition of a liberal or liberalism does not support Yeagley's claims above. Here is just a snippet from the community-defined Wikipedia description on Liberalism:
“Liberalism is a broad array of related ideas and theories of government that consider individual liberty to be the most important political goal.[1] Modern liberalism has its roots in the Age of Enlightenment... Liberalism rejected many foundational assumptions that dominated most earlier theories of government, such as the Divine Right of Kings, hereditary status, and established religion. Social progressivism, the belief that traditions do not carry any inherent value and social practices ought to be continuously adjusted for the greater benefit of humanity, is a common component of liberal ideology. Liberalism is also strongly associated with the belief that human society should be organized in accordance with certain unchangeable and inviolable rights. Different schools of liberalism are based on different conceptions of human rights, but there are some rights that all liberals support to some extent, including rights to life, liberty, and property” (Wikipedia 2008).
Do you see anything about Freud, Oedipus, homosexuality, or race, in the above description? No, neither do we. If the factors Yeagley claims are fundamental to Liberalism, or so ‘very’ important to people claiming to be liberals, why don’t these concerns get mentioned first and foremost in this short description? Obviously, liberalism does not harbor any of the ranted assertions of David Yeagley.

And, once again, Yeagley has failed to connect the dots whatsoever: no scientific connection outlined between sexual orientation, liberalism, and race. Yeagley may venture a blog opinion on a causal connection, but of course there isn’t one. Yeagley’s appears (to those not paying attention) that he’s aiming at a scientific target in his ranting, but his sights are faulty. He’s not really looking at science at all, just aspiring to commence a spectacle without any supportive evidence. Not only is Yeagley’s approach lazy, it is not well reasoned.
YEAGLEY — “Religion, politics, sociology, these are the realms of today’s giant, popular affectations of male homosexuality... Liberalism cannot escape its place in the history of behavioral science. It is sublimated male homosexuality.”
From the above declaration, Yeagley concludes that liberalism is historically seen as resulting from a Freudian condition of loss and separation. However, once again, Yeagley has not put forth even the smallest evidence in support of his assumption. Even more, nowhere is there any convincing evidence of historians that share his view, nor are scientists ready to declare the process of natural selection is the result of homosexuality.

And lastly, do practitioners of religion reduce their activities to a central philosophy of homosexuality? I have serious doubts about that claim, I must say. The “Holy Trinity,” maybe. “Jesus H,” perhaps. The big “Dog” himself, more probably yes. But worshiping and praying to homosexuality? I have my doubts. No, it appears that Yeagley’s rants are abysmally devoid of thoughtful reasoning just as much as scientific understanding.

Again, it is painfully clear, that Yeagley’s made-up persona, the icon “Bad Eagle” who never actually existed as Yeagley claims he did, does not makeup for the conspicuous lack of science and reason in his blog rants. The influence of his so-called “Bad Eagle” icon suggests nothing to our eyes but continued embarrassment and foolishness. If I had been Bad Eagle, I’d be rolling in my grave at this point over Yeagley’s wild and unsupported pontifications. But not to worry, “Bad Eagle” is also unsupported by the historical evidence, so no real harm done. If Yeagley wants to keep his imaginary friend, c'est la vie.

David Yeagley’s Abysmal Ignorance of Science

It always amazes me, the pontificator preaching up a storm of fire and brimstone over issues that are rather meaningless. It just goes to show how little David Yeagley really comprehends of modern science. So while the piano doctor digs up scriptural fossils to defend his outmoded ideals, scriptural myths bearing almost no relation to reality of life (beyond the apparent human ‘myth-making’ impulses), he gives us two clear evidences that Yeagley does not understand the basic facts of life.

First, Yeagley seems to labor under the delusion that people are “by nature” predisposed to violence and to not care for each other. Yeagley believes that people left to their own devices will succumb to some ‘primitive’ notion of “animalistic” behavior that is cruel and mean. This mistaken assumption is unsupported by evolutionary science however. Altruism is one of the driving factors in the evolution of all mammals, achieving a great level of speciation in human beings in fact.

YEAGLEY — “The human mind is a solipsistic thing, by nature. Selfish, self-oriented, self-idolizing, scared, and as a result, greedy, hording, aggressive toward others, careless of others... This is all nature, I do believe. Only deeper values, when taught, or even if learned the hard way, can help the condition. The right religion can help... It's something we're told by someone else, someone older, who's been there first” (March 2007).
When Yeagley rants on about the need for “religion” or “deeper values” to “help” the condition of altruism (above), he is absolutely not understanding the basic evolution of mammals in general, and humanbeings in particular. Inbred into us, through millions of years of evolutionary process is a drive to ‘be nice’ to each other, it is the way we have survived and is one of the genetic factors that enabled our continued evolution from earlier species.

To put it another way, we may have long died out as a species, if not for our intensely strong genetically ingrained predisposition toward cooperation, mutual altruism, even love if you want to use that term. In other words, evolution has provided us with a basic desire to care for each other, and evolution has not only achieved this result in humans, but has surpassed itself by extension beyond our species.

It is easy to see (outside of our species, but within another species), for example, that wild wolves care for other wolves. Wild animals (not domesticated) care for each other, and this is true across many species. But what is fantastic about humanity is that as a species, we show a quick readiness to show altruistic behavior beyond (outside of) our own species. We care for non-humans as much as we do for others of our own tribe. If another species is hurt, we go out of our way to care for the creature, and feel genuine sadness at the unfortunate circumstance.

Evolution has made us this way of course, we are altruistic and largely moral creatures by nature, whether we culturally have any religion or not. In fact, one has only to look at the (non-religious and unprompted) altruism of atheists to quickly see that religion is not a necessary prerequisite for genuine caring and good morals. David Yeagley is wrong about his “low” idea of nature, and the inherent predisposition toward being mean; I am nearly certain that Yeagley simply spouts this nonfactual rhetoric to justify his own tendencies toward segregation and, well, being mean.

A group is said to be a “species” when those creatures have the ability to interbreed. A “race” is actually a subcategory of species, in that other (less-important) differences are present, but the ability to breed is still present. Actually, according to the science of genetics and the evolutionary history of the human genome, we are almost nearly all genetically similar to each other, all of our races without exception. To reiterate this, humans are more alike than different on the genetic level, and our “differences” at the level of race are insignificant for evolutionary processes.

This means that we do have differences, of course, but we are more different as INDIVIDUALS than we are racially or genetically different at the species level. As individuals within the same race we are more different from each other, than we are beyond our own race where we are actually really alike. Racially we are not very ‘different’ at all, it’s only as “individuals” that we see some differences, across all of the races.

Evolutionary Fact: There is greater diversity between us as individuals, than there is across our different races. And we know, therefore, that evolutionary altruism is shared genetically by all races — not just the races that Yeagley mistakenly thinks belong to a 'higher order.' Molecular science has disproved Yeagley's genetic assertions.

And secondly, David Yeagley does not understand evolutionary science regarding speciation, and the types of sexual variation resulting from the natural world. There are species which procreate with themselves, although that sort of messes up the scientific definition of species as being able to breed ‘with others’ in the same group. But homosexuality is created at the level of the genomes with their coded proteins that direct the processes of growing any individual.

Though homosexual individuals may not breed with each other as a closed group, they are the product of nature, “God’s nature” if you are so religiously inclined. The homosexual group is not a race, nor a species, but a group only as a subset of individuals with a particular protein makeup in their genetic code. X and Y chromosomes are directing the growth of body parts, appendages, and so on, and they also create a recipe for sexual orientation. Being homosexual is a nature-made reality, a “God ordained” reality (again) if you are religiously inclined.

Scientifically, being gay is not an illness nor a disease, but simply "nature" at the level of individual gene selection, unlike altruism which is present in all of us as a species. Though Yeagley, apparently with his nose buried in the scripts of long dead patriarchs, is all too willing to turn a blind eye toward these obvious facts.

With his anti-Indian, anti-minority, rants of white supremacy, Yeagley is merely digging up the fossils of buried feelings of inferiority and insecurity in an ever-changing world. The evolving world frightens little david.
YEAGLEY — “Never mind the real agenda of homosexuality, the recruitment of children. It isn't about homosexuals wanting equal rights. It's about homosexuals wanting to see more homosexuals. They disguise the 'malignancy' of their nature. They simply try to describe themselves in everyone else's terms, to appear normal, in the name of "equality." But that's not the end of it. (Would that it were.) This is only a step in the progress of the disease” (May 2004).
Though one might have some sympathy for Yeagley’s scary plight, that should be no reason to coddle the idea that the world must stay put in it’s ignorant misogyny, racism, sexism and religious dogma of segregation and warmongering. No, it is far better to discover and embrace the truth, and learn the facts of history, evolution, scientific reasoning, ever appreciating the wondrous nature of our changing lives.

Yeagley simply does not know how to appreciate “change,” and he seems not to be the altruistic type that nature intended him to be. But there is hope for the rest of us. And I’m glad to see that the “traditional” groups of American Indians are not cowering under the limited conceits of neocon Christianity, and are standing proud for the rights and citizenship of the “two spirited” ones (who live in every tribe across the country). Indians have a long history of respecting, even admiring gay folks, and I am sincerely happy to see this turn of events in Oregon:

COOS BAY — Kitzen and Jeni Branting have been in a committed lesbian relationship since high school and plan to get legally married in Oregon next spring. Yes, in Oregon.

True, voters amended the state Constitution constitution in 2004 to allow marriage only between only a man and a woman. And Congress outlawed gay marriage more than a decade ago.
But Kitzen Branting, 25, is a member of the Coquille Indian Tribe on the southern Oregon coast.

As a federally recognized sovereign nation, the tribe is not bound by the Oregon's Constitution. The tribe recently adopted a law that recognizes same-sex marriage and extends to gay and lesbian partners, at least one of whom must be a Coquille, all tribal benefits of marriage.


The Coquilles (which tribal leaders prefer to pronounce KO-kwell) are probably the first tribe in the nation to legalize same-sex marriage, says Brian Gilley, a University of Vermont anthropology professor and author of the book, "Becoming Two-Spirit: Gay Identity and Social Acceptance in Indian Country."

Many Native American tribes historically accepted same-sex relationships... Native Americans are "sensitive to discrimination of any kind," says Tanner. "For our tribe, we want people to walk in the shoes of other people and learn to respect differences. Through that, we think we build a stronger community."


The new law establishes tribal rules for recognizing marriage, whether for gay or heterosexual couples... The culture committee reviewed tribal history and concluded "same-sex domestic relations were accepted with no exclusions from tribal citizenship, the community, auspices or
spiritual activities," reported Jack Lenox, the committee chairman... all but two members of the council and a majority of 14 people who testified in a public hearing supported it, tribal leaders said. "I think it is going to have a very positive impact on this tribe," Tanner says. (Bill Graves)

The flushing of Yeagley’s “great white throne”

Boy this one’s gotta sting. Nothing Yeagley can do about it, absolutely nothing.

The so-called “great white throne,” as David Yeagley likens the supremacist concept of imaginary ‘pure blood,’ is soon to be a concept long forgotten. While Yeagley is surely going to torment himself into a tizzy over this news, play the victim, try to diminish the reality of this fact, or otherwise ignore it. But in the secret chamber of his mother’s bedroom-turned-blogger-hideout, Yeagley will probably be fuming about this. A new concept of race is emerging. And, it’s about time, don’t you agree?
YEAGLEY — “The dark races are to become a unified force against
the white races... The darkies are just a tool, a weapon... It's all a
quest for the Great White Throne. And no darkie will ever set on
that throne. There is no intention of allowing the darkies to rise to
any significant power as a people... There is no threat to white
power, and there is no guilt about it" (Jan 2007).
The fact that we are mixing racially is no big deal in reality, it’s always been happening of course. The Harry Potterish whigmaleerie of “pure blood,” to which Yeagley so desperately cleaves, is Lucius’ly ludicrous. A dawn is coming and ushering in new definitions and ideas of race, much less stigmatizing and way way less important. That is the kernel of hope in this happy news. Read on.

US white population a minority by 2042: census bureau

“Whites in the United States will no longer be a majority of the population by 2042, nearly a decade earlier than previous projections, according to US Census Bureau figures released Thursday. While 65 percent of the US population is projected to be white in 2010, those numbers will start to decline around the 2030s as white deaths outpace births, according to the figures.

The figures show that in 2042, whites will be outnumbered by Americans who call themselves Hispanic, black, Asian, American Indian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander. Previous projections said this would happen by 2050. By the mid-century mark, when the United States is projected to have a population of 439 million people, 54 percent of the population will consist of racial minorities...


Researchers pointed out that some sections of the United States already have reached the point where whites are minorities, such as the states of California and Texas... And along with the overall growth, the number of mixed-race Americans was expected to triple, reaching 16 million, or close to four percent of the population.

‘Within the conventional definition of race, white, black, Asian, minority versus non-minority, this is a big change,’ David Waddington, chief of the Census Bureau's population projections branch, told the Times.”
